Timothy D. Medsker

July 29, 1966 — July 13, 2020

Timothy D. Medsker, 53, Mooresville Fire Chief, passed away July 13, 2020. Tim was born July 29, 1966, to the late Robert E. Medsker and Irene (Weis) Medsker, who survives.

He graduated from Mooresville High School in 1984 and was actively involved in the Volunteer Explorer Program during his youth. He worked as a dispatcher in Plainfield and Mooresville before beginning his official firefighter career in February of 1994. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1997, Captain in 1999, and his current position of Chief in 2009. He was named Firefighter of the Year on two occasions during his time with the Mooresville Fire Department. Tim had also recently served as assistant chief of the Monroe Township Fire District.

Tim was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. An active presence in his children’s lives, he enjoyed coaching their athletic teams as they grew up. Tim loved to travel, as long he could drive there, and always looked forward to the next trip to Panama City Beach. He will be fondly remembered for his quick sense of humor, his tenderhearted nature, and his loyalty to his family. Tim was a humble and well respected leader who leaves a great void in his family, department, and community.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Rick Medsker; infant sister, Susan Medsker.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Tammy (Bennett) Medsker; children, Baron and Payton Medsker; mother, Irene Medsker; brothers, Bob (Michelle) Medsker and Bill (Carol) Medsker; sisters, Debbie (Mark) Wurfel and Sandy (David) Crockett.
