Guy Thomas “Tom” Edwards, 86, Mooresville, died January 1, 2012, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Mooresville. Mr. Edwards was born April 8, 1925, in Indianapolis, to the late Guy and Mabel (Harrell) Edwards.
Mr. Edwards graduated from Washington High School and from Purdue University in 1950. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II in the European and Pacific Theaters. He was a Registered Professional Engineer for Tousley-Bixler Construction Company from 1949-1983, retiring as the Vice President and Branch Manager of the Bloomington office. In addition, Mr. Edwards was a member of Chi Epsilon (Civil Engineering) Honorary Fraternity, the American Concrete Institute, and was past chairman of the Joint Apprenticeship Committee for Cement Finishers. He was also a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Martinsville.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy (Puckett) Edwards, to whom he was united in marriage December 21, 1946; daughter, Sheila Kanaby (Randy) of Mooresville; son, Tom Edwards (Monica) of Greencastle; grandchildren, Kelly Reed, Tom Kanaby, Tom Edwards, and Dan Edwards; great grandchildren, Justin, Kevin, Ella, and Jakob.
The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 5, 2012, at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2012. Burial will be in Nebo Memorial Park, Martinsville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
