Urban Lee “Junior” Goss, 85, Mooresville, died peacefully at home October 2, 2015. Mr. Goss was born June 7, 1930, in Morgan County, to the late Urban Hayes and Beatrice Louise (Allee) Goss.
Junior graduated from Eminence High School in 1948 and proudly served in the United States Navy. A hard working man, he was a truck driver for Yellow Freight for 30 years, retiring in 1994. Following retirement, Junior enjoyed hauling grain for Jessup Farms for a number of years. He was an avid sports fan, often cheering on Tony Stewart and the Dodgers. Junior was also a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Plano, the Teamsters Local Union 135 and the Martinsville American Legion Post 230.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Stuart Goss and siblings, Donald Goss, Marlene Kinder, and Imogene Clade.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Lou (Sacks) Goss, to whom he was united in marriage December 23, 1953 ; children, Vaughn H. Goss (Jenny) of Mooresville, Rhonda Goss Huber of Mooresville, and Michelle Pappas (Tony) of Greenwood; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Tuesday, October 6, 2015, in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, October 5, 2015. Burial will be in Mannan Cemetery, Lewisville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Morgan County Humane Society.
