Vance Robert Smith

Vance Robert Smith, 58, of Mooresville, passed away July 6, 2019 at Franciscan Hospice House in Indianapolis. Born March 17, 1961 in Indianapolis, Vance was the son of Robert M. “Bob” and Rosetta A. (Steinbrook) Smith; his mother survives and resides in Mooresville.

Vance was a 1979 graduate of Mooresville High School and attended IUPUI in Indianapolis. He worked in the IT department at Herman Miller for 15 years; starting in Indianapolis, his job took him to many places including, Texas, Michigan, and North Carolina. Vance was a good Christian man and enjoyed volunteering for the food pantry at his church in North Carolina. He also enjoyed woodworking and caring for his Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Prince.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert M. “Bob” Smith and his nephew, Chad Smith.

Survivors include his mother, Rose Smith; his brother, Vincent Lee (Charlene) Smith of Baton Rouge, LA; his sister, Valerie Ann (John) Bain of Martinsville; and five nieces and nephews, Josh Bain, Jennifer McKinley, Craig, Cameron, and Candace Smith.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Vance Smith from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2019 in the chapel at Carlisle - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 39 E. High Street, Mooresville. The memorial service will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
