Velma Louise McClain, 86, Mooresville, died November 16, 2014, in Meadow Lakes. Mrs. McClain was born January 20, 1928, in Indianapolis, to the late Leslie Head and Mary (Roach) Burns.
She attended Washington High School and was the owner and operator of Star Dust Beauty Shop in Fountain Square. Mrs. McClain was a member of the Church at Mt. Gilead and the VFW Post 1111 Ladies’ Auxiliary. An active member of Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority, Mrs. McClain helped with the Old Settlers Queen Contest for many years and baked for their bake sale. Her specialties were peanut butter fudge and zucchini bread. Additionally, she volunteered at Riley Hospital, the VA Hospital, and Millers Merry Manor. She enjoyed playing board games and cards. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother who was adored by her beloved family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Max McClain; brother, Jesse Head; sister, Christine Martin.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Robert Meece of Ohio and Richard Eads of Greenwood; two daughters, Edwina Griffith of Mooresville and Bonnie Ridenour of Indianapolis; brother, Robert Head of Ingalls; one sister, Patricia Dodson of Indianapolis; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Thursday, November 20, 2014, in the chapel at
Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Friends may call on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, 4 to 8 p.m. Rev. Jeff Faull will officiate, and burial will be in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mission Fund at Mt. Gilead.
