Victor K. Franklin, loving father, grandfather, brother and son, was called home to the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 16. Vic, a resident of Lexington, S.C. , was a native and long-time resident of Mooresville. He was 60.
Vic was the Southeast region sales manager for National Tube Supply Co., based in University Park, Ill.
Vic was best known among family and friends, however, for his unrelenting sense of humor. Even as he dealt with painful health issues in recent weeks, Vic never lost his sense of humor. He brightened every room with his quick one liners and jokes. He loved nothing more than spending time with family and friends, virtually all of whom were the victims of his extravagant practical jokes.
He also cherished spending time with his best friend, Dan Lentz of North Augusta, Georgia.
Vic and his late father, Warren, and brother, Steve, were kindred spirits in their love of cars. He was a devoted son, checking in on his mother, Betty, every day. He frequently made the long drive from South Carolina to Indiana to spend time with his son, Chris, and daughter, Amy, and their families.
He was a past master of the Mooresville Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Scottish Rite in Indianapolis.
Survivors include his mother, Betty (Knox) Franklin of Mooresville; children, Amy Gaton (Mike) of Wanamaker and Christopher Franklin (Kelly) of Plainfield; brother, Steve Franklin (Pat) of Camby and Tim Franklin (Alison) of Baltimore, Maryland; grandchildren, Lexi Franklin, Brooklyn Franklin, Riley Franklin, Austin Franklin, Elyssa Hurst, and Marilynn Grace Gaton; best friend, Dan Lentz.
Friends and family will gather on Monday, August 20, 2012, 4 to 8 p.m., at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. A Masonic Memorial will be held at 7 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 21, 2012, in the First Christian Church, 525 N. Indiana St., Mooresville.
