Virgil Bledsoe, 94, Mooresville, went home to be with the Lord July 27, 2015. He was born August 30, 1920, in Orange County, Indiana, to the late Oliver and Carrie (Purkhiser) Bledsoe. He was born again and assured his home in Heaven when he accepted Christ as his Personal Savior at Decatur Baptist Church in the 1960’s.
Mr. Bledsoe attended school in West Baden, Indiana. He fell in love with horses at a young age and became a professional Saddle Bred Horse Trainer. Additionally, he was a truck driver and retired from Yellow Freight System.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Melvin, who died on his 9th birthday; brother, Charles Bledsoe; half-sister, Geneva Switzer.
Survivors include his wife, Norma (Harms) Bledsoe, to whom he was united in marriage December 28, 1970; children, Sharon Louise Bledsoe of French Lick, Brenda Kay Davis Craven (Randy) of Heath, Texas, David Earl Bledsoe (Rebecca) of Bloomington, and Anthony Ray Bledsoe of Owensboro, Kentucky; grandchildren, Kevin Blandford (Millie), Benjamin Davis, Matthew Davis, Daniel Davis (Maribeth), Rebekah Ochoa (Scott), Rachel Schneck (Dain), Timothy Davis (Leah); eight great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Friends and family will gather Friday, July 31, 2015, 4 to 8 p.m. at Life Line Baptist Church, 13387 N. Slideoff Road, Camby. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 1, 2015, in the church. Pastor Tim A. Lindsey, II will officiate, and entombment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
