Virgil Davis, 85, Mooresville, died peacefully November 10, 2011, at Meadow Lakes. Mr. Davis was born May 12, 1926, in Hendricks County, to the late Henry and Mapal (Hamilton) Davis.
He was the owner and operator of Hoosier Variety for 32 years, retiring in 1998. Prior to, Mr. Davis was a Maplehurst driver and salesman and was a farmer. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, was an avid Pacers fan, and enjoyed spending time at the casino. A loving family man, Mr. Davis enjoyed spending time with his family and always loved sharing a sweet treat with friends, especially pie.
Mr. Davis married Helen (Wheeler) Davis on June 24, 1944, and she preceded him in death on June 2, 2008. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Diana Marie Davis; brothers, Floyd, Herbert, Leorn, Edwin, and Edgar Davis; sister, Orpha Sheets.
He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Garry Davis of Mooresville; daughter, Sherry Richardson of Danville; granddaughters, Jacki Partlow (Zachary) and Juli Woodrum (Chris); great grandchildren, Eli and Ryan Woodrum; Kate and Eryn Partlow; special friend, Carminta Wright of Mooresville
Calling hours will not be observed. Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Virgil Davis on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, 2 p.m., in the Coatesville Cemetery. Chaplain David Clayton will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mooresville Senior Center.
