Virginia “Mick” Rutherford

94, of Mooresville, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on May 14, 2022. Mick was born in Switzer, West Virginia on June 14, 1927 to the late Levi and Vada Dehart. Mick grew up in the country and loved to roam the land. She was very independent and still lived in her home. She had a very adventurous soul. For her 90th birthday Mick went zip lining and was still driving herself around up until just a short time ago. Mick loved spending time on the farm with her family. They were everything to her and holiday time was her favorite. She enjoyed going to the casino and “window” shopping around town. Mick always had a lighter in her pocket and would spend much time picking up sticks or raking leaves for the sole purpose of have a “fire”. There is even a story of her lighting her pants on fire when she put 2 matchbooks in her pocket causing friction with one another!

Mick is survived by her children; Shirley (Bob) Smith, Larry (Robin) Rutherford and Steve (Cathy) Rutherford, grandchildren; Vicki Higgins, Cheryl Corhn, Chris (Cassie) Rutherford, Scott (Kayla) Rutherford, Graham Rutherford and Sean (Samantha) Rutherford, along with 8 great-grandchildren and her siblings; Ray Dehart and Fern Williams.

Mick is preceded in death by her loving husband; Charles Rutherford and siblings; Eunice Richardson, Midford Dehart, Atley Dehart, Margaret Cox, Eddie Dehart and Paul Dehart.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022 at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory from 10:00am-12:00pm.
Funeral Services will be immediately following in the Funeral Home.
