Wallace R. “Wally” Turner of Mooresville, passed away July 3, 2016 at the age of 89. He was born August 6, 1926 in Humboldt, Illinois to the late Fountain and Marjorie (Callahan) Turner.
Wally was employed at Allison’s-General Motors in Indianapolis for over 35 years; he retired as a buyer in 1984. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was active in the Boy Scouts serving as Scout Master for Troop #26, a member of the Mooresville Church of God, and Mooresville Lions Club. Wally spent his years in retirement residing in Ft. Myers, Florida and Okeechobee, Florida and recently moved back to Mooresville due to his failing health. He was a life time member of the American Legion and VFW posts in Mooresville and Okeechobee.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Macer.
Survivors include his children, Wallace Reid Turner, II of Mooresville, John Eric (Brenda) Turner of Seymour, Edwin Bruce (Nikki) Turner of Mooresville and Lorraine B. (Daithi) Haxton of Thorntown; brother, Gerald Bradley Turner of Brooklyn; brother-in-law, Paul Macer of Chandler, Indiana; six grandchildren, Justin and Thomas Turner, Alyson Turner, Anna Main, Courtney Brady and Hilary Haxton; and eight great grandchildren, Isabelle Main, Elizabeth Brady, Jonathan Brady, Christian Brady, Damien Williams, Anastasia Williams, Samantha Bullock and Brayden Woods.
Family and friends will gather for visitation from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 7, 2016 in the chapel at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, July 8 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
