Wanda J. Rippy, 76, Mooresville, passed away peacefully at home on May 31, 2016. Mrs. Rippy was born September 16, 1939, in Scott County, Tennessee, to the late Morris and Marie (Moore) Foster.
In addition to being a devoted wife and raising her five children, she worked for Automotive Armature for more than 25 years, retiring in 2000. She had been a member of Victory Baptist Church. An avid gardener, she also enjoyed canning. The consummate mom, she was an excellent cook who enjoyed the old recipes of ham and beans, biscuits and gravy, fried green tomatoes, just to name a few. Wanda will be fondly remembered by her loving family and many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James Edward Rippy; brothers, Martin, Chester, Donald, and Junior Foster; sister, Earlene Howard.
Survivors include her children, Teresa Cooney (Gary) of Mooresville, Patty Brewer-Cooney (Steven) of Mooresville, Sue Helms of Mooresville, Darcy Rippy (Patty) of Rockville, and Rochelle Lehr of Mooresville; brother, Herman Foster of Georgia; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 4, 2016, in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Friends may call prior to the service from 11 a.m. Pastor Tony York will officiate, and burial will be in White Lick Cemetery.
