The world has lost another member of the Greatest Generation. Wayne O. Moore passed away Thursday, October 6, 2011. He was 86. Born on November 16, 1924 in Terre Haute, IN to the late Otto and Bertha (Ippen) Moore, Wayne served 2 years in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was involved in the Battle of the Bulge and served with Patton’s Third Army.
Wayne was an affable, hard-working, and gregarious man who enjoyed being outdoors and working with his hands. He took great pride in working with wood and creating pieces he could share with family and friends. Wayne also cherished his children and grandchildren, often sharing stories and boasting about them to friends and acquaintances.
Wayne married his childhood sweetheart, Emmabelle (Botner) Moore, in February, 1948. She preceded him in death.
He is survived by his sisters Jean (Moore) Riggle of Brazil, IN and Frances (Moore) Gibbons of Clinton, IN. He is also survived by his daughter, Pamela Moore, son Gary W. Moore (Patricia Anderson Moore), granddaughter Brooke (Moore) Biasillo (Cosmo Biasillo), all of Plainfield, and grandson Jacob W. Moore (Rosie Baker Moore) of Indianapolis, as well as three great-granddogs and three great-grandcats.
A celebration of Wayne's life will be Saturday from 2-5pm at Carlisle - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, and at Frist Funeral Home in Clinton, IN on Sunday from 11-1pm. Graveside services will take place on Monday morning at 10 a.m., in Roselawn Cemetery, Terre Haute. In lieu of flowers, donations and contributions can be made to the Morgan County Humane Society.
