Wayne R. Rinehart, 85, Greenwood, formerly of Mooresville, died November 14, 2011, at his residence. Mr. Rinehart was born February 25, 1926, in Glezen, Indiana, to the late Zack and Nettie (Kirk) Rinehart.
Mr. Rinehart graduated from Petersburg High School in 1946. He was professionally trained as a welder and pipefitter and worked for various firms through the years, the longest of which was Baker, McHenry & Welch. He also worked for Eli Lilly & Company at the Kentucky Avenue Plant, where he was instrumental in the completion of their project that helped to advance synthetic insulin. During the 1970’s, Mr. Rinehart was an active volunteer, coach, and board member for the Mooresville Baseball League. He was also a longtime member of the Petersburg Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Betty (Murry) Rinehart; son, Steve Rinehart (Elaine) of Indianapolis; daughter, Sue Rinehart of Indianapolis; granddaughters, Renee Rinehart, Emily Rinehart, and Sarah Gibson.
The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 19, 2011, at the Carlisle - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, November 18, 2011. Burial will be in Nebo Memorial Park, Martinsville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
