William E. Shaw, age 77, of Stilesville passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at his home. He was born March 1, 1936 in Indianapolis to the late Christopher “ Andrew” and Lucille Shaw.
William served his country for three years while mainly stationed in Germany shortly after the Korean Conflict. He was one of the few servicemen able to witness the first nuclear test blasts in America. He provided for his family by working as a forklift operator for 37 years at General Motors, retiring in 2001. He was a long time member of the Plainfield Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing; after he retired he purchased a boat and during the warm months he would boat at Lake Cataract and fish. He was a amiable man who was well known in his community.
Surviving is his loving wife of over fifty five years, Judy Yeadon Shaw; his 4 children, Lisa M. Lunt ( Dennis) of Camby, William E. Shaw Jr. ( Lori) of Brownstown, Brian D. Shaw ( Theresa) of Martinsville and David L. Shaw of Plainfield; his 7 grandchildren; Summer Fairfield, Tera Pease, Joel Shaw, Amber Brenner, Amanda Kennedy, Griffin Lunt, and Tori Shaw. His is also survived by 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Carlisle- Branson Funeral Service & Crematory entrusted with arrangements.
