William Jesse “Bill” Swinney, 78, of Eddyville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 17, 2018. William was born on February 2, 1940 to the late Jesse Willard and Pearl Margaret (Huber) Swinney. He was united in marriage on August 25, 1962 to his wife, Janice (Craige) Swinney, who survives.
Bill graduated from Mooresville High School in 1958 and continued his education at Indiana University receiving his Bachelor’s degree. Bill was a real estate broker, materials manager at RCA for 15 years, but really enjoyed working as a builder on starter homes. He was instrumental in the development of Collett Meadows, Collett Acres and North Madison Crossing. He was a Coxswain in the Coast Guard Auxillary. William enjoyed stained glass, boating, and also deep sea fishing. Bill will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Stephen Craige (Michelle) Swinney of Zionsville, Elizabeth Swinney (Michael) Goldsby of Muncie, and Timothy Alan (Kimberly) Swinney of Carmel; two sisters of Mooresville, Darlene Lenora Heald and Sandra Kay VanNess; and grandchildren, William Patrick Powell, Christian Craige (Cassandra) Swinney, Andrew David Powell, Josiah Jonathon Swinney, Sarah Elizabeth Powell, Dietrich Daniel Swinney, Ellie Catherine Swinney, Kate Elizabeth Swinney, Gabriel Garrison Swinney.
Friends and family will gather Thursday, June 21, 2018, 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory; service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at the Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.
