Willie Reid, Jr., 89, Mooresville, passed away October 4, 2020. Mr. Reid was born June 18, 1931, in Manchester, Kentucky, to the late Willie Reid, Sr. and Stella (Deaton) Reid.
Willie grew up in Kentucky and proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. Always a hard worker, he labored in the coal mines in Kentucky, before moving to Indiana. He worked for 35 years for Richardson Rubber Company and retired in the mid 1990s. Willie enjoyed being outdoors – fishing, hunting, and gardening. He was an avid NASCAR fan and always looked forward to tuning into any show that Steve Harvey was hosting. He was a huge Kentucky basketball fan. Above all, Willie was strongly devoted to his family. He will be fondly remembered for his work ethic, his strong will, and his caring, loving nature. Willie was an exceptionally proud grandpa who always loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Joyce (Benge) Reid, who passed away in 2002.
Survivors include his son, Marvin (Vicki) Reid; brother, Gilbert Vernon Reid; sister, Pearl Harrington; three grandchildren, Danielle Reid, Heather (Edwin) McCullah, and Ashlee Reid; two great grandchildren, Keegan Reid and Brantley McCullah.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 8, 2020, 5 to 8 p.m., at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, October 9, 2020, at 1 p.m. Burial will be at White Lick Cemetery.
