Winford Verlin Acton

Winford Verlin Acton, 95, Mooresville, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away June 4, 2016.

Winford's creativity drove his life - through his many projects and his love of music. He was a proud veteran and served in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Acton retired from Detroit Diesel Allison and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Kathleen (Wright) Acton, to whom he was united in marriage December 4, 1948; parents, General Lee and Delia (Warren) Acton; step-mother, Katherine Acton; brother, Ernest Acton; sisters, Edna Brewer and Minnie Fowler.

He is survived by sons, Larry Wynn (Dee) Acton of Thorntown and Danny Lee (Arleen) Acton of Texas; grandchildren, Stacey, Robbie, Jessica, and Damon; great grandchildren, Madison and Riley McGhee.

The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Friday, June 10, 2016, in the chapel at Carlisle - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time.
