To all of my Rooker family my deepest and heartfelt sympathy, prayers for comfort and the peace of God that passes all understanding. I don’t know where to start to honor the man I knew and loved as my “Papa”. I met him and Mama Joyce in 1985 at a very low point in my life. I was 22 when I became a member at New Life In Christ and I learned so much under his ministry about life, love and serving the Lord. I was treated with respect and always encouraged to trust in the Lord. After a period of time of doing my own thing, I returned to NLIC with my young daughter Brittany and we were welcomed with open arms. I didn’t just gain a church family, I gained an extended family, Pastor Bill (papa), Mama Joyce and Renee became my family I adopted them and they adopted us!! They helped me raise Brittany to know the Lord and they became grandparents to her. They showed us both kindness and love for that I am eternally grateful! We sure had alot of great times together that I will always cherish!! I was married by Pastor Bill to his nephew Scott and he loved to joke how his daughter married his nephew, he would say that we were a bunch of rednecks lol, he had such a good sense of humor!! Scott and papa were very close we always enjoyed our family times together they were filled with laughter and good memories! He married my daughter and dedicated my grandchildren to the Lord. He was a man of God and he lived his faith in his private life the same as he did at church. He prayed for my family became a good friend to my parents and officiated my dads going home service. He ordained me in the ministry and the list goes on…I will never forget everything he did for us. I look forward to the day that I will see him again, until then I will always remember papa with the utmost respect! He ran his race well and I know he is shouting on those streets of gold that he preached about so many times!
Uncle Bill will always be remembered for his bright sunny smile and awesome guitar playing .We shared alot of family cookouts with the Uncles jamming and family reunions throughout the years. Later my husband and I visited his church and my husband enjoyed playing drums along with the musicians. Our favorite recent memory was sharing Thanksgiving a couple of years ago and hearing my Aunt and Uncles reminiscing with each other. My husband laughed so hard we had a beautiful memory that day. Love ya Uncle Bill. Our prayers are with Aunt Joyce, Renea, Randy & family!!! Rick & Robin Moreland
Wishing you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your hearts.
