Loren “Sonny” Culver
77 of Mooresville, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2020 at home, surrounded by family. Sonny was born August 14, 1943 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Evelyn F. (Saltsman) and Loren Culver, Sr.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his stepmother Virginia Culver; stepfather Charles Bushong; brothers Charles Bushong, Jr. and Richard Newbold.

Sonny grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Ben Davis HS. He married his childhood sweetheart, Gloria (Hill) Culver on June 15, 1963. Together, they raised four children, Loren, Angela, Rodney and Kayla. They recently celebrated 57 years of marriage. Sonny worked as a quality control manager and inspector for many years at J.C. Wilson Engineering, and most recently with Overton Industries in Mooresville until his health no longer allowed.

A strong man of faith, he was an active member of the Brooklyn Church of God, where he served as a service and worship chairman. Next to his love of his Lord and Savior was his family. He enjoyed spending time with them as well as fishing and watching sports, especially cheering on his IU Hoosiers.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gloria (Hill) Culver; children Loren Culver, III (Brenda), Angela Walker (Tim), Rodney Culver (Bobi-Jo), Kayla Greider (Robert); siblings Virginia Fletcher, Rita Stedman, Janie Farrington, Allen Bushong, Connie Hall, Beverly Bushong, Tammy Paul; grandchildren Kyflin (Cody), April, Logan, Loren Michael, Aaron, John, Brent (Danielle), Lance (Madison), Kyle, Adriana, Briana (Zion), Coltin, Gavin, Sofiana, Mannix, Lavien and great grandchildren Kaylee, Paetyn, Cora and Levi.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 4th from 4-8pm at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Services will be held on Thursday, November 5th at 11:00am at the Brooklyn Church of God. Burial will follow the services in Mooresville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are preferred to be made in Sonny’s memory to the Brooklyn Church of God, 8606 N Country Club Rd, Mooresville, IN 46158.

My Heart and Prayers are with the Culver Family, Loren was a great guy, when I was a young man confused trying to find my way in life, and making a lot of bad judgements, Loren was the one who saw good where others just had back bitten me, and put me down, he gave me a job, and plenty good advice , he really cared, even though it took a few years before I put that advice to work within my life, Loren is the one who saw a young man that could be better , I believe he was a valuable friend in my life, that has helped make me into the man I am today , Thank you Loren, I love ya brother , you’ll be missed by many.
