Opalene W. Daugherty, 82, Mooresville, passed away January 29, 2020. Mrs. Daugherty was born May 14, 1937, in Horse Branch, Kentucky, to the late Herbert and Vicie (Murphy) Willoughby.

She graduated from Shawnee High School and was a proud homemaker through the years. A longtime resident of Kentucky, Opalene moved to Mooresville eight years ago to be closer to family. She had been a member of the VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary in Kentucky. She enjoyed cooking and was strongly devoted to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her husband was a Pentecostal minister, and as a result, her faith in God was strong. Opalene will be fondly remembered by her loving family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Daugherty; brother, L.C. Willoughby; two sisters, Pauline McNeal and Jo Ann Paris.

Survivors include two son, Perry (Debi) Daugherty of Mooresville and Dan Daugherty of Mooresville; two granddaughters, Shaena (Kegahn) Hopwood and Haley Daugherty; great grandchildren, Maddox, Jaxson, Bennett, Ryker, and Ziek.

Friends and family will gather Sunday, February 2, 2020, 2 to 5 p.m., at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The service to celebrate the life of Opalene Daugherty will begin at 11 a.m., Monday, February 3, 2020, at the funeral home, with Jeff Faull officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with replacing the many items that were lost in the fire that tragically took Opalene’s life.   1. Aunt Willie was my favorite aunt when we were young the family really did a lot of things together. Christmas was especially fun . She was always smiling and laughing so much fun to be around. RIP aunt Willie gone but never forgotten. ߙϰߙϰߙ
