Jack was the family genealogist . He so enjoyed visiting our ancestors tombstones and markers. In later years of his life , I drove him to a couple of different cemetery’s in Illinois. He knew so much, but was never sure if we were from Ireland or Scotland. We played many Gin rummy games at Mom and Dad’s. Even almost up to the end… he was a great gin rummy player. He was in the age group of my Aunt’s and Uncle’s(parents) ,so I considered him more of that generation than my own, but we enjoyed each other’s conversations. Jack had many stories of his days in Germany during WW II. He lived a long life.., and he is once again home.
Jack was a very gentle soul. I remember no matter what he was calm. By his passing he left me as the oldest in the family, a title I wish he could have kept a little longer. One goal of his was to visit Hazel Dell Illinois one more time. He will now Rest In Peace at that place with family members. We will miss you “Couis” Duane and Jane(McFarling) Nielson
