Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I was so blessed to call him my uncle. So many memories that I will always cherish. I will always hold those memories dear. “Tammy Jo” loves you and misses you Uncle Gene. RIP❤️

  2. I have wonderful memories of Gene through the years of teaching with him at PHS. What a wonderful demeanor and smile he had. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

  3. What I will always remember about Mr. Brodie is how patient and kind he was, whether trying to explain a complicated calculus concept to me my senior year when I just couldn’t get it, or the countless times I saw him at athletic events throughout my boys’ high school years and throughout my years teaching at PHS. We will all miss him.

  4. Gene was our book keeper for girls basketball for 40 years! But beyond that he was a great man! Always willing to help and never seeking attention. He was loved by our players and staff and will be missed greatly!

  5. I want to extend my deepest sympathy to the Brodie family and I am so sorry for your loss. Gene was a kind, gentle and great man. We were friends for many years including 9 years with him running the scoreboard at PHS home basketball games and I was the announcer. I remember Gene as having a keen sense of humor and although he seemed not to say a whole lot, but you would remember what he said. He will be greatly missed at all the football and basketball games. I am confident to say that anyone who knew Gene loved him. I know I did. I now live near Hilton Head Island SC, so I will not be able to attend the funeral service. Please know this: Gene was awesome to me always and I will deeply miss him for the rest of my life. My prayer to you is to stay strong, remember all the great times with Gene, and know he is in Heaven with our Heavenly Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. Please take care and be well. Sincerely, Marty Moore

  6. When I started the girls’ interscholastic basketball program way back when, Gene volunteered to keep the books and continued to do so for many years. Oh, the changes he saw. He was always willing to help in any way – a true gentleman. He will be missed.

  7. I will remember Gene as a friend to all and always wearing a gentle smile. Thanks for your many years of service to our school and athletic programs.

  8. The Sullivan High School class of 1957 send our deepest sympathies to the family of Eugene Brodie

  9. My deepest sympathy to the Brodie family. Gene had the perfect temperament and focus to keep the scorebooks or run the clock at so many Plainfield High School games. He will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace Gene.

  10. We have fond memories of Gene as a teacher, a colleague, and a friend. He was a wonderful man with a gentle spirit. He will be missed.

  11. Gene was a colleague at Plainfield High School, with both my husband, Jay and myself. Gene was quiet, but had a wonderful dry sense of humor. He was a wonderful teacher! So very sorry for your loss. Carol Clapp

  12. I knew Gene for many years and his Wife,Beverly, lived just down the street from me. Gene was quiet nice man and a true friend. I send my deepest sympathy to Bev and her family; Pat Pierson

  13. I had Mr Brodie my senior year for Calculus (1st period-talk about cruel and unusual punishment). I got volunteered a few years ago to help out in the press box when my son was playing football and got to know him as a person and not just a teacher. I loved doing those games with him and loved his sense of humor. I still can’t do Calculus despite his efforts to teach a dumb Hoosier. Thanks for everything Mr Brodie!
