Dannie Lee Davis, Sr.

November 30, 1946 ~ June 4, 2019
Dannie Lee “Poppy” Davis Sr.
72, of Mooresville, passed away on June 4, 2019 at his home. Dannie was born on November 30, 1946 in Ridgley, Tennessee to the late William Thomas Davis and Eula Mae (Webb) Davis.
After high school, Dannie honorably served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Navy. After returning home from service, he worked for Cold Metal Products, first as an electrician and later as a plant supervisor until his retirement in 2002. Upon retirement, he set out on a journey driving from Indiana throughout the Western United States to the coast of California and back. He enjoyed photography, golfing, fishing and reading. He was often known to checkout several library books at a time, often reading the latest crime novels. He also spent some time in Florida in his retirement, where he enjoyed being head of maintenance of the mobile home park where he lived. However, he missed his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he loved and enjoyed aggravating at any opportunity he could, so he moved back to Mooresville to be closer to family. He will be greatly missed by his family.
In addition to his parents, Dannie was preceded in death by a sister Wanda Lucille Davis.
Left to cherish his memory is his son Dannie L. Davis Jr. and his wife Ronie of Mooresville; stepdaughter Vickie Nearhoof and her husband Ron of Cloverdale; sister Mattie Mae Deaton and her husband Dallas; brother William Samuel Davis; grandchildren Trey (Ellen) Davis, Trenton Davis, Trevin Davis, Treiton Davis, Treagan Davis, Cindelle (Adam) Mills, John (Ann) Testerman and a great granddaughter Wrenley Davis.
A gathering of friends and family to celebrate Dannie’s life will be held Saturday June 8th from 2-4pm at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with services beginning at 4pm Saturday in the funeral home. According to Dannie’s wishes he will be cremated following the services.
While flowers are welcomed, memorial contributions may be directed to The American Heart Association.

I just saw this and am heartbroken. Dannie was the maintenance man at the property I managed in Florida. He was so much more than an employee – he was my friend! When I’d drive through Indianapolis we’d meet for breakfast. He’s been on my mind alot lately and I even tried to send him a text September 24th! I’m so so sorry for your loss – he was a great man!
