L. Ruth Ferguson Buchanan, 84, of Chrisman, Illinois formerly of Mooresville, passed away February 17, 2019. Ruth was born November 5, 1934 in Marion County, Indiana to the late Loren and Velma (Bayliff) Collins.

Ruth graduated from Martinsville High School in 1952. She worked for many companies through the years such as Bridgeport Brass, Mooresville School Corporation, Laboratory Supply Company, and Dr. Charles Kelley III. Over the years Ruth loved cooking for her family and church, babysitting the grandchildren, oil acrylic painting, flower gardening, sewing, crocheting, and attending many ball games over the years for the grandchildren. Ruth is going to be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband of 60 years, Karl Ferguson; sons, Timothy Ferguson and Danny Ferguson; a brother Gene Collins; a sister, Teresa Melvin and canine buddy, Smokey.

Survivors include her husband of 6 years, Brady Buchanan; a daughter, Debby Perkins; step-son, John (Nowell) Buchanan (caretakers); special daughter in-law, Rhondi Taylor; a brother, Allan (Kathy) Collins; sisters, Nancy Smith and Linda Collins; grandchildren, Angela and Jennifer Perkins, Steven (Kelly) Ferguson, Dana (Anthony) Haggenjos; great grandchildren, Jordan and Jenaya Perkins, Mia and Tucker Ferguson, Avery and Blaise Haggenjos; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, 5-8 p.m., in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Additional visitation time will be 11 a.m.-12 p.m., Thursday, February 21, 2019, with services at 12 p.m., in the funeral chapel. Burial will follow at Centerton Cemetery.   1. We enjoyed going to AAU basketball ,seeing and talking with Carl & Ruth , both of them were such nice people. They were so proud watching Dana play basketball. Prayers for the family and friends. May God give each of you peace and comfort at this difficult time.

  2. I received the education of my life when Debby and I found Ruth’s stash of romance comics in the basement when we were teenagers. Not sure we ever let on that we found them. What great times we had living across the tracks from each other…so many years ago but still seems like yesterday. Susie Crocker Parmerlee
