Elizabeth Pugh

Elizabeth Mary Margaret Pugh, 96, Mooresville, passed away peacefully December 10, 2018. Mrs. Pugh was born August 27, 1922, in Pennington Gap, Virginia, to the late Emmitt David and Viola (Johnson) Price. She married Arthur Clyde Pugh on December 17, 1938, and he preceded her in death on May 6, 2006.

Mrs. Pugh was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and the consummate homemaker. She worked at Central Coil in Martinsville early on and also at Kelly’s Grandview Restaurant (presently Poe’s Cafeteria). Mrs. Pugh was a member of New Life in Christ Church. Strongly devoted to her family and friends, she always put the needs of others first. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and quilting. One of the greatest cooks in Morgan County, some of her greatest recipes included her roast, meatloaf, corn bread, and the very best homemade biscuits. Elizabeth’s memory will be cherished by her loving family and many friends.

In addition to her parents and Arthur, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Clifford, Carl, Harmon, James, and Ernest Price; sister, Kathleen Whitaker, Flossie Rivers, Myrtle Kelly, and Rosie Gibson; grandsons, Arthur Pugh and Anthony Rooker; great granddaughter, Chrysti Pugh Cook.

Survivors include her sons, Donald Ray (Wilma) Pugh, Everett Warren (Julia) Pugh, and Emmitt Money (Sharon) Pugh; daughters, Joyce Ann (Pastor Bill) Rooker and Rosemary (Ted) Tapp; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Sunday, December 16, 2018, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Pastors David Gibson and Bill Rooker will officiate the 1 p.m. funeral service on Monday, December 17, 2018, in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mooresville Cemetery.
