Steven J. DeHoff
65, of Coatesville, passed away January 23, 2018 at his home. Steven was born on August 14, 1952 in Portland, Indiana to the late Max DeHoff and Rosemary (Callahan) DeHoff.
Always loyal to his country and a lifelong learner, Steven became an Eagle Scout as a young man and furthered his education by earning a Master’s Degree from Indiana State. After graduating from I.S.U., he honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. Later, he taught math and computer science for Avon Middle School for 26 years, before retiring in 2008. A history buff, Steven enjoyed researching genealogy as well as people, places and subjects that were interesting to him. He also enjoyed the arts, reading and collecting books and movies. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Alice (Hall) DeHoff, son; Doug (Margaret) DeHoff, daughter; Lois DeHoff, siblings; Karen (Bill) Bost, John DeHoff, Beth (Jim) Tudor, Sue (Pete) Slevinger and two grandchildren; Colleen and Rory.
Funeral services will be held Saturday 1:00pm at the Greencastle Christian Church, 620 Primrose Ct, Greencastle, IN 46135, with visitation from 10:00am until the services on Saturday at the church. Burial will follow the services in Forest Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Steven’s memory to the Care Net Pregnancy Center of Putnam County 1224 S Bloomington St, Greencastle, IN 46135 or to the Humane Society of Putnam County, P.O. Box 444 Greencastle, IN 46135.

Dear Alice, We are so very saddened by your precious loss.
I remember Steve was so helpful in finding our lot at Heritage Lake. Then we built our home there. Enjoyed our family and friends there for 23 years, and you and Steve were always a part of it.

Steve was a dear friend and next-door teacher for nine years at Avon Middle School. We had so many good talks, laughs, and moments within the world of teaching middle school students. Never a dull moment. I enjoyed seeing him every morning and starting our day. I am so sad to hear of this news. My heart goes out to you and the children and grandchildren. He was a wonderful person. Wow what shocking news as I learned of Steve’s passing. My heart felt sympathy and prayers are being sent your way. Steve was a long time teacher and friend that worked for us at Avon Middle School. I am in Florida now and will not be able to express my condolences to you and your family in person. Please know Steve was a great man and will be missed! I will always remember his willingness to help whenever needed and his dedication to his students and our computer lab.
