  1. In World War II, the tip of the Marine Corps spear was the rifle company, and the Marines ultimately fielded 162 of them in the Pacific. Don served in one of them — Company “F”, 2nd Battalion, 23rd Marines — 2-F-23 as they called it. And within that rifle company, Don was part of a small cadre of Marines who formed on the battlefield as an ad hoc team on Saipan, and became the company’s A-Team, the movers and shakers…the absolute point on the tip of that Marine Corps spear.

It’s been an honor to have been welcomed into his rifle company as a member, to have walked those battlefields with him, and to have been his friend for over two decades.

  2. My thoughts are with the Swindle family at this difficult time. We were neighbors years ago when we lived in the same housing addition. Our children and theirs were in the same grades at school. They are a super nice family. Thanks Don, for your service to our country.

  3. June, I’m so sorry for your loss. 71 years of marriage! What a gift. I miss our rides together with mom to the Kingdom Hall. I hope the promise of the resurrection brings you comfort. Love you, Sister.
