Naomi Nichols Marcum Maxfield, 95, Mooresville, passed away January 10, 2018, as a resident at Meadow Lakes. Mrs. Maxfield was born June 2, 1922, in Big Stone, Virginia, to the late Harme Nichols and Bobbie (Kinsler) Trotter.

A hard working and talented lady, there is not much that Naomi could not accomplish. She was self-taught, determined, and very astute with her finances. She was an accomplished gardener and great cook. Above all, she loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Naomi will be fondly remembered by a loving family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jude Heritier; siblings, Donald, Ralph, Ray, Dallen, Clayton, Cornie, Lucille, and Kate Alice.

Survivors include her loving husband, Earl Maxfield; one daughter, Brenda (Matthew) Doyle of Martinsville; grandchildren, Mark (Connie) Doyle, Tina (Keith) Gaskill, Stacy Klinker, Tori Heritier, and Ross Heritier; great grandchildren, Andrea (Ben) Childs, Taylor Gaskill, Amelia Doyle, Riley Gaskill, and Abby Doyle.

The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., Friday, January 12, 2018, in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 12:30 p.m. Pastor Billy Gott will officiate, and burial will be in Floral Park Cemetery.   1. Naomi was so very special to me. I cared for her at Meadow Lakes. She would always light up when I walked in the room and always told me I worked too hard. Caring for her was one of my greatest pleasures. She always had a funny story to tell me and put a smile on my face even on my toughest days. What a special lady!!! She will always hold a special place in my heart.
