Charles R Gunnell

Charles R. Gunnell, 89, longtime Mooresville resident, died August 7, 2017 in St. Francis South Hospital, Indianapolis. Charles was born May 4, 1928 in Indianapolis, to the late Arthur and Tempest (Ricketts) Gunnell.
He attended Mooresville High School. After school, he served his country in the Merchant Marines, then started a 38year career at Bridgeport Brass, retiring in 1988. After retiring from Bridgeport Brass, he went to work as a driver for Overton & Son in Mooresville for many years. He was a member of the West Newton Masonic Lodge #78 and the American Legion Post #103.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother; Tom and a sisters; Edna Mason and Geneva Squires.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Della (Elkins) Gunnell of Mooresville, a son; Brian Gunnell (Angie) of Michigan, daughters; Suzanne Champlin (Don) of Martinsville, Cherall Humble (Terry) of Kentucky, Carol Myrick of Mooresville, a brother; Richard Gunnell (Millie) of Mooresville; sisters; Gertrude Wilcher of Mooresville, JoAnn Deppert of Mooresville, and Jean Lesch of California; 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to attend a gathering to celebrate the life of Charles Gunnell from 4-7pm, Thursday August 10th at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Inurnment will be in the Mooresville Cemetery, Saturday, June 10, 2023, 3 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Charles' memory to the Alzheimer's Association http://www.alz.org

I am so heart broken over the loss of my brother just knowing that he is in the arms of our Lord and Savior and is no longer in pain gives me comfort. Prayers and blessings to my family in these days of sorrow. Love you all
