Paul R. Hord, Sr., 83, Mooresville, passed away peacefully at home on February 24, 2017. Mr. Hord was born August 26, 1933, in Indianapolis, to the late Richard Ray and Helen Mae (Stuck) Hord.

Paul proudly served in the United States Air Force and was a member of the American Legion Post 103. He worked for Sunoco for 22 years as an oil transport driver before retiring. Paul was a kind and generous man who was always willing to help others. He was an accomplished carpenter and talented mechanic. His caring ways will be fondly remembered by his loving family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Wanda “Elsey” Hord.

Survivors include his children, Paul R. Hord, Jr. of Indianapolis and Marci McCann (Vince) of Nashville; brother, Joe Hord of Louisiana; grandchildren, Traci West, Stephanie Perkins, and Kelli Perkins; great grandchildren, Logan West and Carter West; companion of more than 20 years, Gerry Shidler.

Friends and family will gather on Friday, March 3, 2017, 5 to 7 p.m. in the chapel at

  2. Laughing, that is so true..our parents are the last of an amazing generation. There will never be another Uncle Paul, Babe or Loren, Joe, Ernie! They were quite the gang! Love ’em all!

  3. Uncle Paul was a great man. I had the pleasure of meeting him on several occasions. I wished we could’ve gotten to know the rest of his family. He was my great uncle, my grandfather is his brother Joe. Rip… You were always fun to be around and told really funny stories.
