Stella Bea Barnes, 83, Camby, formerly of Monterey, Tennessee, passed away peacefully December 28, 2016. Mrs. Barnes was born June 2, 1933, in Crawford, Tennessee, to the late Oscar and Bertha (Skinner) Hargis.

A loyal and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Stella was a proud homemaker who took great pride in her family. She enjoyed quilting, and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved to cook and make sure everyone was well fed – making the best cornbread and chocolate gravy, among just a few of her southern recipes. Stella will be fondly remembered by her loving family and many friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Paul Barnes; siblings, Anna Ruth, Cliva, Marie, Eileen, Maxine, and Boyd.

Survivors include her sons, Danny Barnes (Beverly) of Camby, Donny Barnes of Mooresville, and Larry Barnes (Sherry) of Mooresville; sister, Daisy Garrett; nine grandchildren, Michael Barnes (Michelle), Daniel Barnes (Kelly), Jessica Imburgia (Anthony), Anthony Barnes (Sierra), Kaitlyn Barnes, Patience Barnes, Emily Barnes, Johnny Barnes, and Nate Barnes; 16 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren.

Friends and family will gather Friday, December 30, 2016, 5 to 8 p.m., in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Dave Thurman Saturday, December 31, 2016, 1 p.m., in the funeral home. Burial will follow in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.   2. What a sweet lady, I always stopped at her door to say hello when visiting my mommy. Would tell her I was Ashley’s mother in law to be. She would say Ashley is one of mine and I know you too! Prayers for the family I know she will be missed.

  3. I loved this lady for 43 years. She always told everyone I was her daughter not her daughter-in-law If she loved you, you knew it, if she was mad at you, you knew it. She was a rascal with an amazing heart. I will miss her , her grandchildren will miss her, Her great grandchildren will miss her, family and friends but mostly her three sons will miss her.

  6. Being around Stella you could feel the love, she had for her sons, family and people in general. What a beautiful soul. I’m glad I was able to be a small part of her journey. She will be missed.

  7. I took care of Stella when I worked at Meadow Lakes in Mooresville. I loved her and her family. Her sons were her world. I came to be very close to her and her family. When I told her I was moving back to Ky she wanted to leave and come with me. She was a sweetheart.

  8. I took care of Stella when I worked at Meadow Lakes. I always tried to go to her room when I had a few mins to chat. Loved talking to her, such a sweet lady! Prayers for her family

  9. Stella was a resident of mine when I worked at Meadow lakes and I would just sit in there and talk to her for what felt like hours. She’d talk about her sons and always offered to give me pop, lol. You’ll be forever missed sweet stella. Prayers to family.
