Richard M. "Rich" Schmidt

Richard M. “Rich” Schmidt, 39 of Morgan County, died Wednesday, July 20, 2016. He was born September 14, 1976 in Indianapolis to Richard E. and Joyce Charlene Schmidt.
Rich was a 1995 graduate of Martinsville High School where he enjoyed all sports including; wrestling, football and track. Rich also enjoyed music, art, painting, mushroom hunting and working out. A jack of all trades, he most recently worked in the construction industry.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce and both sets of grandparents.
Survivors include his father and step-mother, Richard E. and Anita Schmidt of Martinsville; step-mother, Nancy J. Schmidt of Mooresville; two sisters, Jennifer L. Schmidt of Mooresville and Melissa A. Bryant of Brooklyn; three nieces, Mary and Madison Bryant and Riley Morgan; and one nephew, Martin Bryant, Jr.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Richard M. Schmidt from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Clayton Cemetery. I remember Richard during football. He was very committed to lifting and Plyometrics with the group. He was a Coach Koontz kid, like most of us. He was a double good young man that worked hard. He was an Artesian.
He definitely was a Artie. Back when being a Artie counted. RIP Rich.

Richard was the only friend that was there for me and my family when we needed help the most and I couldn’t tell him ‘thank you’ enough so I really hope he knew how much that meant to us. We will never forget it! I’m so glad weve hung out and gotten closer this past year. Luv ya Rich. We will miss u friend. RIP buddy.

I didn’t know Rich real well, but I do remember his hilarious stories. He was a good guy and my condolences and prayers for his family and friends going through this loss.
