Piney B. Lane, 78, Mooresville, passed away May 24, 2016. Mrs. Lane was born one of fourteen children on December 28, 1937, in Casey County, Kentucky. She was reunited in heaven with her parents, Samuel and Sue (Holt) Burchett and siblings, Bill, Buford, Roger Dale, Georgia Christine, Louise, and Sadie.

Piney graduated from Hustonville (KY) High School. She was a proud homemaker and wonderful caregiver for her husband, children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading, and watching soap operas and cooking shows. She sold BeeLine Clothing during the 1970’s and when her health was better, she was an accomplished gardener and canned vegetables. Piney had a strong faith and enjoyed attending Way of the Cross Church in Martinsville. She will be missed by a loving family and many friends.

Survivors include her husband, Kelly Curtis Lane, to whom she was united in marriage September 22, 1956; children, Debra Lane of Mooresville, Teresa Kelso (Coy) of Decatur Twp., and Anthony Lane (Robin) of Greenwood; siblings, Garnett Burchett, Jay Burchett, Josie Goins, Naomi Burchett, Pam Luster, all of Kentucky, Lucille Gilbert of Greenwood, and Jewel Scott of Brooklyn; grandchildren, Scott Lane, Aaron and Wendy Kelso, Curtis, Casey, and Brittany Lane; seven great grandchildren.

The funeral service will begin at 7 p.m., Thursday, May 26, 2016, in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until service time.   1. Piney was one of those special people in your life who leaves a mark on your heart. I always felt kindness and love from her she always made me feel good about myself so easy to talk to, never judged or repeated anything. Spent lots of my growing up years with her and family. So glad she was in my life. R. I. P. My other Mom a special Angel.

  2. What a blessing to have been given the chance to know Piney. Piney was a precious lady who had such a sweet spirit and was a great dialysis buddy. Always had a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye. Her personality was infectious and I will truly miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with Kelly and her family, may you feel God’s peace and comfort.
