Carolyn Sue (Jenkins) Lathrop, 70, Waverly, passed away peacefully at home April 30, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Lathrop was born September 26, 1945, in Indianapolis, to the late James H. and Elsie (Hire) Jenkins.

She graduated from Mooresville High School in 1963. Mrs. Lathrop was a rural route mail carrier for 22 years, retiring in 1998. She had a keen eye for decorating and design. She carried out this talent with floral designing at Berries & Ivy in Martinsville. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, and antiquing. Above all, she adored her family and always made it a point to be an active part of her grandchildren’s lives. She will be missed and fondly remembered by a loving family and many friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brothers, Bill, Don, and Harold Jenkins; sister, Kate Simpson.

Survivors include her husband, John Lathrop, to whom she was united in marriage October 10, 1987; son, Mike Bishop of Greenwood; daughter, Jennifer Forbes (John) of Martinsville; step-son, Kevin Lathrop of Indianapolis; step-daughter, Addey Lathrop of Indianapolis; sisters, Hilda Baker of Greenwood, Jean Carter of Indianapolis, Peggy VanBlaricum of Camby, Wanda Stout of Indianapolis, and Sandy Rhudy of Greenwood; nine grandchildren, Lauren and Sarah Forbes; Travis and Emily Bishop; Karsyn, Kaidyn and Keatyn Lathrop; Trey Floyd and Parker Angst.

Friends and family will gather to celebrate the life of Carolyn Lathrop on Thursday, May 5, 2016, 4 to 8 p.m., in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Moorsville. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Friday, May 6, 2016, in the funeral home. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Waverly.   4. I remember what a wonderful Mother Carolyn was to Mike and Jennie. She was a great sister-in-law to me…she taught me how to make her awesome chili recipe; I still make my chili this way.
