Charlene Y. Whitney
December 30, 1935 ~ June 14, 2015
Charlene (Young) Whitney, 79 of New Whiteland and formerly of Mooresville died Sunday, June 14, 2015 at Community Hospital South. She was born December 30, 1935 in Marion County; She is preceded in death by her parents Martha A. and Joseph E. VanMetre.
Charlene was a flight attendant for Lake Central for several years and also worked as the office manager and nursing assistant for Dr. Norman E. Whitney’s office in Mooresville. She later moved to south Florida where she worked as a check out attendant for Hertz Rental Car at the Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. She attended the Mooresville Friends Church and St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Mooresville.
Survivors include her son, Jeffrey J. Whitney of Nashville, TN and Greenwood; one brother, William VanMetre of Ohio and two sisters, Patricia Boles of Plainfield and Martha Jo Osborne of Sunrise, Florida.
Family and friends will gather from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 22 at the Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 39 East High Street, Mooresville, IN. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be given to the family in order to help with funeral expenses. Please make checks payable to the funeral home. We have been good friends with Charlene and her family for 48 years. She had such a warm heart for everyone she called friends. She will be missed by many but never forgotten. She is in a better place. Jerry & June Conner
