David F. Daugherty

David F. Daugherty, 72, Bargersville, died October 14, 2014, in Community Hospital South. Mr. Daugherty was born May 7, 1942, in Indianapolis to the late Curtis and Fellamena (Wood) Daugherty.

Dave graduated from Arsenal Technical High School and proudly served in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He worked as a dispatcher for Citizens Gas for 30 years, retiring in 1999. Additionally, he was the owner and operator of Photos by Dave Daugherty for many years. Dave was the proud owner of a 1966 Chevelle that he purchased new and was a member of the Cluster Busters Car Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors, especially in the Smokey Mountains. Dave also loved music and was a talented banjo player. He was a faithful member of New Life Wesleyan Church, Mooresville. Above all, Dave Daugherty was a family man – strongly devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Daugherty.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon (Poynter) Daugherty, to whom he was united in marriage June 19, 1965; children, Dawn Hunt (Billy) of Martinsville, Dee Ann Boner of Bargersville, and David M. Daugherty of Greenwood; brother, Marvin Lee Daugherty (Debbie) of Avon; sister, Beverly Ann Adams (Kenneth) of Lizton; grandchildren, Matthew, Ashley (Richard), and Kaitlyn; Courtney (Jon), Brittany (Bobby) Michael, and Whitney; Jackson and Isabella; great grandchildren, Dakota, Bristol, and Emery.

Friends and family will gather on Saturday, October 18, 2014, 2 to 6 p.m., in the chapel at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 19, 2014, at New Life Wesleyan Church, 1594 State Road 144, Mooresville. Pastor Mike Linville will officiate and burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Waverly. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.   1. We are grateful to have known Dave. Acquainted with him at Mooresville Wesleyan Church. Sorry we cannot come to funeral and celebration of his life.

  2. I was so shocked and sadden to hear about Dave. I know it has been a very long time since I have seen any of you, but the memories will always be there of our younger years. I worked with him in the Dispatch office at Citizen’s for many years and he was a great guy, he never said a bad word toward anyone and was always smiling! Dave was a wonderful man and we know he will be missed by his family and friends! Just remember he will be looking down from heaven trying to get ‘the best picture ever’.
