Janece Nevland Brizendine
August 1, 1924 ~ October 10, 2014
Janece Nevland Brizendine, 90, Mooresville, left this world to be with God on the 10th of October, 2014.
The widow of Vaden Brizendine, Janece and her tiwn sister, Corliss, were born August 1, 1924, to Edward and Dessa (Nevland) Cour. The family shortly thereafter moved from Ft. Wayne to Indianapolis, where Janece, Corliss, and their younger siblings, Edwina and Lyle, were raised. Janece married Vaden March 21, 1946, and had celebrated 66 years together.
A deeply Christian woman, Janece and friends petitioned to bring a Catholic Church – St. Thomas More – to Mooresville. She remained an active parishioner of that church, after being present at its very fist Mass in 1967.
A gifted seamstress, Janece made and sold (but mostly gave away) dozens of quilts, to just about everyone she knew. Noted for this and many other generous deeds, Janece was best appreciated by her family and friends for an enthusiastic greeting, a sympathetic ear, and sunny, faithful love.
She is survived by her twin sister, Corliss Cour of Indianapolis; brother, Lyle Cour (Linda) of Indianapolis; four boys, Mike (Marilyn) of Indianapolis, Steve (Shirley) of Arizona, Mace of Mooresville, and Breck (the late Dorothee) of Mooresville; ten grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild.
Friends and family will gather on Thursday, October 16, 2014, 5 to 8 p.m., in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 17, 2014, 11 a.m., in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1200 N. Indiana St., Mooresville. Burial will be in Washington Park North Cemetery, Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church. Janece must have been a good mother, to have such a good and loving son as Breck. From Dave and jane vickers
Such a beautiful, thoughtful, creative lady. A true angel now. I love you always, Grandma. I know you’re happy…finally with the lord and with Grandpa. You’ve earned your wings.
