Dorothy Lee Scaggs, 86, Mooresville, died peacefully Saturday, October 04, 2014, in Meadow Lakes, Mooresville. Mrs. Scaggs was born March 26, 1928, in Camby, Indiana, to the late Edward and Dorothy (Oliver) Soots.

Dorothy attended Walnut Grove High School. She worked for Automotive Armature and Sure Start for 30 years. Mrs. Scaggs was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1111 Auxiliary and had been a member of the Mooresville Eagles 3988. She was an accomplished cook and enjoyed traveling. She will be missed by a loving family and many friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former spouse, Robert S. Scaggs; brothers, Junior and Charles Soots; sister, Louise Ooley.

Survivors include children, Victoria Burdon of Ft. Wayne, Robert C. Scaggs (Marilyn) of Spencer, William G. Scaggs of Mooresville, Evelyn M. Westenhofer (Jerry) of Mooresville, Rebecca Scaggs of Mooresville, Janice Barnhart (Tom) of Mooresville, Michelle L. Scaggs (Missy Forbes) of Mooresville, and Cheyenne Scaggs of Indianapolis; brother, Russell Soots of Mooresville; sister, Deborah Stapleton of Mooresville.

The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 8, 2014, in the chapel at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with calling there from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, October 7, 2014. Burial will be in the Mooresville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post 1111, PO Box 201, Mooresville, IN 46158.
