Sheldon Clyde Cooper

Sheldon Clyde Cooper, age 82, of Monrovia, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2014 at his residence. Born November 3, 1931 in Jamestown, TN, he was the son of the late Albert and Lillie Cooper. His brother, Ray Cooper, two sisters, Roxie Adkins and Rillie Owens and his step mother, Margaret Cooper also preceded him in death.
Mr. Cooper retired in 1993 as a millwright at Wishard Hospital after 27 years. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He loved fishing and woodworking, was an avid reader. He was a blacksmith and also coached little league football.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Shirley (Stephens) Cooper whom he married on August 28, 1957; his children, Sheila Cooper, Robin (Doug) Baker, Sheldon (Ronne Jo) Cooper; his brother, Raymond C. (Shirley) Cooper; his sister, Hazel Griffith; his five grandchildren: Katy (Derek) Storm, Lauren Cooper, Shelby (Jake) Hadley, Mitchell Cooper, Jeb Baker; and his two great grandchildren: Virgil and Leonard Storm.
Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Gary Lafary on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, with burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall, IN. Friends may call Tuesday, September 23, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to offset funeral expenses.
