Brenda, I will never forget your Mom making liver and onions when I stayed with your family after getting out of the hospital while being pregnant with Micaiah. It was my first real meal in 2 1/2 months and what I had been craving so badly. The part I will never forget though is her taking the time to teach me ‘her techniques’ to keeping liver from drying out while cooking. Your Mom was so sweet, kind, and amazing to a very scared young soon to be Mom. She never once looked down or treated me any different but showed me a true Christian spirit. G-d is definitely welcoming a wonderful angel into his gates. You and your family are in my prayers at this difficult time of her no longer being here with you on Earth. It will be hard to get use to but she will always be with you in spirit in everything you do and everything she has taught you.
Joan was a GREAT influence and help to my life. She gave me good cooking and housekeeping advice. We always worked well as a team catering or gardening.I always knew she was always there as a true friend.I’ll miss her in so many ways.
Remembering Joan in high school at Grass Creek IN and renewing friendship when she was District 5 Womens Leader and we were together in IN Farm Bureau meetings and on trips. My sympathy to Harlan and their family. She was special!
Harlan, I’m very sorry to learn about Joan. I guess the last time I saw you and Joan was at a Farm Bureau meeting in Rockville. I don’t remember if she was at the 50th SWCD meeting, but I remember talking with you at that meeting. My sympathy Harlan and your family Bill Swern Rockville, IN 9/17/14
I remember Joan from cooking along side of her at the Hendricks County Extension Building at the old fair grounds. Joan taught me so many things not only about cooking but of life. She was always smiling. When she had to be away for a workshop she asked me to step in and cook a meal for 250 young farmers. I almost fainted, Joan had faith in me. When I recceived the Jane Award I thought of Joan and how many others she hid her light behind. I still cook her cranberry dish every Thanksgiving. My Sympathy to Harlan and all the kids. I know mom is smilling down on the wonderful family she loved so much. She will be missed. Alway in my heart Frankie Konovsek Brownsburg, In.
I remember working with Joan during my years at an Avon, Indiana accounting firm. I have fond memories of her. I’m so sorry for your loss. Brenda Kenworthy
