Richard E. Landon
March 26, 1920 ~ July 17, 2014
Richard E. Landon, 94, Mooresville, died July 17, 2014, in the Richard L. Roudebush Veteran’s Medical Center. Mr. Landon was born March 26, 1920, in Huntington, Indiana, to the late Ralph Raymond and Mary June (Miller) Landon.
He graduated from Rochester High School in 1938 and also pursued collegiate work at Indiana Tech. Mr. Landon, a decorated war veteran, proudly served in the Army Air Corp during World War II. He worked for Link Belt as a Mechanical Engineering Technician for 20 years, retiring in 1982. Additionally, he was a member of the Mooresville First United Methodist Church and was a member of the Mooresville Masonic Lodge #78 for more than 50 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice “Bea” (Ginther) Landon; sisters, Donna J. Matson and Dollie Elaine Deckard.
Survivors include his children, Dr. Charles R. Landon (Carolyn) of Greenwood; Nancy E. Trusty (Mark) of Mooresville; two grandchildren, Jason Landon and Angela Choate; great grandchildren, Tyler and Rick Kelley; Destinee Landon.
Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, July 19, 2014, in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. The Masonic Memorial will begin at 2 p.m., followed immediately by the funeral service, which will be officiated by Rev. Dennis Payton. Burial will follow in the Mooresville Cemetery. God was glorified thru your parents, Mr Landon was a loving person who set a good example for the type of parent one should strive to be. I never remember hearing a cross word come out of his mouth. May God wrap his arms around the family today and every day as they come to terms with his passing.
