I remember meeting Dale and Ruby when we first starting attending Mt. Gilead Church in the late 1970’s. We had just moved to our new home on Mann road and they were greeters at the old church when Terry Crist was the pastor. On of the insignificant things I remember about the Davees (Dale & Ruby) that came to my mind when I had heard of Dale’s death was this: My daughter Margaret wanted a horse, so as parents we went through all the horse back riding lessons and all that goes with it. We had a small piece of property next to our house that I had fenced in, and we bought my daughter a horse. One day I was working in the yard and Dale and Ruby drove by and out of the blue offered to pasture our horse for free. Well, we had been in negotiation to buy the five acres that borders our property in the back, so I thanked them for the generous offer and went back to yard work. It may be insignificant in the light of what our world is becoming, but after so many years that was the first thing that came to my thoughts when Dale passed, I wish I had got to know him better. Misty, Michael and families I am so sorry to hear about your grandpa. He was a wonderful man and a good Christian.
Roger, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your father.
I got to know the Davee family through Morgan County government. First Dale and then Roger. Both were instrumental in developing our county in days gone by. Dale was a gracious gentleman with a warm smile.
Hae gone to church with Dale and Ruby since the 70’s. such a fine family. My deepest condolences to the family.
Through the years I have known about the Davees-always a name connected to Mahalasville and my family. Roy and Sadie came to my Grandparents anniversary in the 50’s. Roy and Sadie took my uncle out West with them in the 30’s.My Mother went to school with Maurice and most recently I spent time with Ted before he passed as we talked about family-both his and mine(Platt). So many connections and what a wonderful couple Dale and Ruby were. They have shared a great life and have a family to be proud of. My sympathy to you all.
