David Lee Norton

January 3, 1949 ~ February 24, 2014
David Lee Norton, 65 of Mooresville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on February 24, 2014. Mr. Norton was born January 3, 1949, in Indianapolis, to the late Howard S. Norton and Alberta M. Norton, who survives.
After graduating from Mooresville High School in 1966, David attended Indiana Central. He thoroughly enjoyed his career, co-workers, and clients of 48 years. He spent his career in industrial sales, since Jan. 1995 he was a Regional Sales Executive for B.W. Rogers, (formerly Hydra-Air Inc), Dave was the lead representative at accounts such as Allison Transmission and General Motors. He was the utmost professional and often recognized with numerous awards over the years.
Dave loved to spend time with his family. Known as “Papaw” to his six grandchildren, Dave spent much time attending sporting events, giving tractor rides, playing sports in the yard, hosting family cookouts, and supporting them in all of their endeavors.
Dave was also an outdoor and sports enthusiast who enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, four-wheeling and attending Colts games. He was an adventurous and fun-loving man. Known for his love of humor, his casual way, kindness, and generosity, he won the hearts of all who knew him.
Survivors include his mother, Alberta M. Norton; children, Craig D. Norton (Rhonda), Robert D. Norton (Susan), and Christy L. Gothard (Matt); former spouse, Cynthia (Hite) Norton; siblings, Dennis W. Norton (Connie), Carol A. Pershing, Nancy J. Norton, Kathy S. Lisby, Peggy L. Norton, and Michael S. Norton (Tammera); grandchildren, Macallister L. Norton, Gracie R. Norton, Samuel R. Norton, Maria K. Norton, Cody D. Norton, and Alex M. Gothard; significant other, Pamela (Neufelder) Jones.
Friends and family will gather on Thursday, February 27, 2014, 3 to 8 p.m., in the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville and from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, February 28, 2014. The funeral service will be officiated by Rev. Jeff Faull on Friday at 11 a.m., in the funeral home. Burial will be in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Quality of Life Fund, c/o the Community Foundation of Morgan County. I was so sorry to hear of Dave’s passing last evening. The world has too few men like Dave. When I heard, the memories came flooding back. Every memory was good! Hi, my name is Trenace Gilstrap, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Dave. I worked at GM Bedford and Dave was our Hydra Air rep. He was a great person to work with and always took care of Bedford. We liked to exchange stories about our grandchildren and children. He truly was a kind, helpful and respected man. I think it was the summer of 2011 or 2012,and my wife and myself were listening to PeaceTrain @ an outside concert @ Greenwood Mall.I spotted Dave and went to introduce myself to him.I recognized him from being @ Allison Transmission.I had seen him many times and I was so glad that I approached him.He and I have talked many times while I have been @ work.Dave seemed to always have a smile on his face.I am so sorry for the loss of Dave.He will truly be missed @ Allison,as I am sure the big loss will be with his family.May Dave rest in peace.Dale Johnson
