Dylan Shannon Whitley

Dylan Shannon Whitley, 25, Mooresville, passed away May 12, 2023.  Dylan was born February 18, 1998, in Danville, Indiana, to Robert Shannon Whitley and Mindy (Phillips) Whitley, who both survive. 

Dylan attended Waverly Elementary and Mooresville High Schools.  He enjoyed playing football and baseball in his younger years.  He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting.  He and his late grandpa, Tom Whitley, were fast friends, and Tom was a wonderful role model for Dylan.  He also spent lots of time skateboarding, and riding BMX bikes.  Dylan had a wide appreciation for music from country to rap, but his favorite artist was Morgan Wallen.  Dylan was described by his loving family as having a heart of gold who would do anything for anybody.  Dylan lived by the motto, “Family Over Everything.”  His funny personality and often strong-willed manner will be forever remembered by his loved ones and his many friends. 

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Thomas Whitley, great grandparents, Alvin Golden and Bob Phelps. 

Survivors include his parents, Rob Whitley and Mindy Whitley; his sons, Dallas Shannon Whitley and Daxton Lucas Cooney (Whitley); brother, Dakota (Emily) Whitley, twin sister, Delia (Parker) Smallman, and sister, Dasia (Jordan) Whitley; paternal grandmother, Debbie Whitley; maternal grandparents, Jeanne Hale and Melvin Hale; maternal great grandmother, Alice Golden; paternal great grandmother, Marj Phelps; mother of Dallas, Mariah Scott. 

Dylan’s Life Celebration® Visitation and Funeral Service will be held at Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville.  Visitation will be Thursday, May 18, 2023, 4 to 7 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 7 p.m.  Terry Crist will officiate.  Burial and committal services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 19, 2023, in Mt.
