Lena Mae Yeary
88, of Plainfield, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at her home. Lena was born on April 21, 1935 in Lexington, Kentucky to the late Willis Crockett and Mary (Ruark) Crockett.
Lena worked as a switchboard operator for Indiana Bell Telephone for 15 years. Strong in her faith, she was a longtime member of GraceWay Fellowship Church in Mooresville. She enjoyed flower gardening, sewing, and quilting. She will be remembered for her patience, her kindness, her loving, generous heart as well as her hospitality in making everyone feel comfortable and at ease.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Billy Yeary; siblings Russell Crockett, Willis C. Crockett, Jr., Betty Ellen Dunbar, Jesse F. Crockett, Floyd A. Crockett, Katherine Fisher, and Bobby Joe Crockett.
She is survived by her children, Larry Yeary, Philip Yeary, Nathan Yeary; sister Brenda Sue Chowdhury; grandchildren Elysia Yeary, Alexandra Jewell Yeary, Rachel Erin Yeary, Charles Lukas Yeary, and her fiancé Earl Christian, who will all miss her dearly.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Lena’s life on Tuesday, October 10th from 1-2pm at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville, with services beginning at 2pm Tuesday in the funeral home. A private entombment will take place at Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis.
