Marilyn J. (Hensley) Miller

87, of Mooresville, passed away on December 4, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital in Mooresville. Marilyn was born on December 15, 1935 in Mooresville, Indiana to the late Edgar Lawrence “Bart” Hensley and Emma Gertrude (Swineford) Hensley.

Marilyn was a graduate of Mooresville High School in 1953, where she was a proud member of their Wall of Fame. A gifted musician, Marilyn served as the organist for the First Christian Church for over 65 years, as well as serving as staff pianist for Carlisle Branson Funeral Service, for many years. She worked as the Clerk & Treasurer for the Town of Mooresville from 1964- 1980, then as an executive secretary at I.U.P.U.I. until 2000, and most recently as a secretary for Advanced Physical Therapy. Her memberships include: Life Member and Past Grand President of Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority-Kappa Chapter, Mooresville, IN, Past President of the Clerk/ Treasurers League, the Indiana Cities and Towns Association, and was an Area 3 Chair of the Indiana Hospital Auxiliary for Franciscan Health. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and music.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James B. Miller, a brother Maurice Hensley, a sister Barbara Hensley, and a sister in law Beth Hensley.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy J. Miller (Perry Winn), nieces Jane Schnelle (Greg), Janet Moritz (Scott), special grandchildren Michele and Steve Ferron, and a great granddaughter Hannah Winn.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Marilyn’s life on Thursday, December 7th from 4-8pm at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory Mooresville. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 8th at 10am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Gosport Cemetery, Gosport, Indiana.

  1. Even though I am unable to visit or attend Marilyn’s service, I still would like to send my heartfelt thoughts and prayers to her family. She was a thoughtful and caring woman who will be missed. God bless.

  2. I remember seeing Marilyn around. The Henley family was known here in Mooresville. I was a friend of Barbara in high School. I was able to attend her funeral. So sorry for the loss of Marilyn. Prayers for the family.

  3. Marilyn was a very nice person. She always had a smile. Loved her music at church. She was just a very nice person to meet and to know. Rest in peace Marilyn.
