Armourrell Jane Greene

 88, of New Castle, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at the Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle, Indiana. Jane, as most knew her, was born in Indianapolis on December 4, 1935 to the late Chalmer Herbert Lewis and Ada Annie Lewis.

She received a master’s degree in education and devoted the majority of her life to teaching art. She was an art teacher and art department head at Fulton Junior High in Wayne Township Indianapolis, Indiana. Jane truly loved any type of art including oils, murals, and sculptures. With a love for teaching and art, she sculpted the minds of thousands of students over the years. She taught for many years until she took retirement in 1995.

Jane married the love of her life, Ted Greene, on January 16, 1988. They had enjoyed over 23 years of marriage when he passed in 2011. When Jane married Ted, she also gained three stepchildren and many grandchildren. She was “Grammy Jane” to many including her bible school students at Mt. Gilled Christian Church. 

She will be missed and fondly remembered by many including her stepsons, Dennis (wife, Ada) Greene of New Castle, Dale Greene of Camby, and Dana (wife, Kris) Greene of Plainfield; grandchildren, Samuel Greene, Denise (husband, Tom) McKee, Jonathan (wife, Val) Greene, Erin Jessup, Blake (wife, Janel) Greene, Riley (Selena) Greene, Angie (husband, Scott) Bailey, Tricia Parrish, Scott (wife, Ashley) Parrish, and Michelle Avila; 9 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ada and Chalmer Lewis; husband, Ted Greene; sister, Joyce Nichols, and grandson, Craig Greene.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, July 1st from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm in the chapel at Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory in Mooresville. There will be a graveside service following in White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville beginning at 3:30 pm. Following the service, she will be laid to rest alongside her late husband, Ted.

  1. I am sorry to hear of her passing. She always had a smile on her face and a friendly greeting for me at church.

I grew up across the street from Janie and her family as a child.When she was older she rented the half double next to my parents home.She was the sweetest lady always with a smile and always offers to help out whenever she could for any neighbors. After she married Blue they came to Miller’s nursing home where l worked to sing for the residents there. Just a beautiful soul l was lucky to have her influence in my life
