Darrel Devore

Darrel Devore, 71, Mooresville, passed away at home November 21, 2024, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Darrel was born February 14, 1953, in Martinsville, to the late Harold and Devon (Hartsburg) Devore. He married Vickie (Pearson) Devore on December 31, 1974, and she survives.

Darrel graduated from Martinsville High School in 1971. Armed with a very strong work ethic, Darrel was a lifelong farmer. His mother used to tell stories that Darrel could disc a field by the age of 10. If Darrel wasn’t teasing you and keeping things light, it was joked that he probably didn’t like you. Darrel had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making others feel happy. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing his harvest, especially his sweet corn that he was known to even share with his nurses. Darrel’s memory will be forever cherished by his loving family.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Vickie; children, Devin Devore and Darlinda (Derek) Hanesworth; brother, Dennis Devore; sister, DeeAnn (Eric) Voyles.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 12 Noon until the service time at 1 p.m., at the Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, Mooresville. 1. You will be missed a great neighbor. We had a big snow one year and Dee and I told our kids we would give them $10 ea to clear the driveway. Darrell drove by in his tractor seen the kids shoveling snow had them move out of the way backed in lowered his blade and drove out waving and laughing. Yes, the kids still got their $10 each.
