Elsie Mae Wittke

 88, of Mooresville, passed away on December 15, 2024 at Meadow Lakes in Mooresville. Elsie was born on November 3, 936 in Smith Center, Kansas to the late Ancel Conaway and Erma A. (Baetz) Conaway.

Elsie married the love of her life, Percy R. Wittke on July 18, 1954, and were married for 51 years, until his passing in 2005. In her early years, to help make ends meet, she worked as a waitress and was an aide at Monrovia High School. She enjoyed playing bingo and playing lottery scratch offs. She will be remembered for her spitfire personality, who loved her family and grandchildren dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Percy R. Wittke; brothers Roger Conaway, Bernard Conaway; sisters Wilma Hughes and Lela Rogers.

She is survived by her son Steven Wittke (Karen), daughters Denise Deschamps (Eldi), Dianne Bain (Kenn); brothers Lyle Conaway, Linn Conaway; 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Elsie's life on Wednesday, December 18th from 4-7pm, at Carlisle Branson Funeral Service & Crematory. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, December 19th at 11am in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hall, Indiana.

  1. So sorry for your family’s loss. I know she will be missed . I can remember the look on her face when we asked to go to the library to “study”. She knew what we were up to . ♥️ Sending you all Love and Hugs and Prayers .
