Dane Lee Wheeler

Dane Lee Wheeler, 48, of Nashville, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at the Indiana University Methodist Hospital after a lengthy cancer battle. He was born in Indianapolis at Methodist Hospital on May 3, 1976 to Teresa Lynne (Rosemeyer) Bayse and the late Michael William Bayse.

He graduated from Perry Meridian High School in Indianapolis with the class of 1994. He then furthered his education at Ball State University earning a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science. He was a proud union electrician in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). 

Kindhearted, generous, and known as the “Gentle Giant”, Dane was genuinely a special soul who had a way of making friends, family, and strangers feel valued and seen. He was an avid sports lover and animal lover. He especially enjoyed football and played football for the Ball State Cardinals from 1995-1999. Additionally, he was a proud Indianapolis Colts fan and a season ticket holder. 

Dane will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his friends and family including his mother, Teresa Bayse of Nashville; wife, April Denny of Indianapolis; brother, Jim (wife, Tara) Bayse of Speedway; aunts, Sandra Holmes of Nashville, Debra Rosemeyer of Greenwood, Donna Padrick of Indianapolis, and Madalyn Bayse of Plainfield; and cousins, Kristy Slate, Mandi Clossey, Brandon Slate, Lorra Bayse. 

He was proceeded in death by his father, Michael Bayse and grandparents, Bruce and June Rosemeyer and Norman and Margaret Bayse. 

Family and friends will be invited to a celebration of life service at the Brown County State Park in the spring. The time and date of the service are pending at this time. 

In keeping with Dane’s wishes, his earthly remains have been cremated. Carlisle – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory has been entrusted with the cremation arrangements.

I wanna say to everyone dnt forget where you have been because your so focused on where your going and loose touch with your friends! I will always regret loosing touch and the time to have one more laugh with him. Rest easy my brother from another mother!

  9. Wheeler was a haed shell. He was tough as nails and a heck of a football player. I had the chance to actually sleep and meet the gentle side of Wheeler on practice. We talked about battling injuries and life. He shared his battles on and off the field and gave me great advise that I never forget. “No one really cares and more ppl are cheering for you to loses than win.
